New Gardening Overhaul in patch

Lol I made a garden of about total 12 plants and my sim had to juggle between her toddlers and her garden and after a day of not watering it was going downhill. Had to cutdown to just 3 plants.

Or just hire a gardener and pay the fee. Otherwise, it does become way too tedious and not fun to have your sim try to keep it up on their own.

My butlers do the gardening except for evolving and harvesting.

I'm very excited for these updates! Hopefully they'll be here today. It is cool that we'll have something to do before the actual pack arrives.

I hope not. In real life you can grow plants inside without a greenhouse so there no need to restrict them so heavily in the game. There are some challenge out there that require growing stuff inside and also when you play rags to riches it doesn't make sense for a sim just starting out to need a greenhouse/house with a fancy glass roof they wouldn't be able to afford just to grow plants. Maybe a growth bonus for using the roofs/greenhouse would be fine but I hope they don't do away with the ability to grow inside without them completely.

But plants will die if they're no windows to give them sunlight. So it's really unrealistic that plants even grow in the darkest basement in TS4.

In TS2 and TS3 you could only plant plants outside or in a greenhouse and that's the most realistic decision.

If you want to place plants indoors you could still use the MOO cheat.
They could also add an UV light so that you could grow plants indoors to make it realistic.
I don't like that it doesn't matter in TS4, you can just place plants literally in the darkest basement without lights and they still grow perfectly. That's the depth that's missing in TS4 from TS2 and TS3.

I hope we get sprinklers in the base game now. I love gardening in the game but watering so many plants gets very annoying very fast.

I enjoy gardening but in the family’s I do it with they have one person staying at home to take care of pets, kids and garden. I’m looking forward to the patch simply because it gives me something else to do while we wait on Seasons! I hope they patch sprinklers because that would be amazingly useful to have off the bat while I’m preparing saves for seasons!

In TS3 I used to grow plants in my basement with no windows using those green plots.

To those of you that like to have a garden in the game but find it too time-consuming - create a gardening club (if you have GT) and let the club members do all the hard work for free :mrgreen: BUT! Don't forget to harvest before you call a club meeting, otherwise they'll pinch all your produce too!

Yes when I have gardeners one of them usually stays home as well. Although in my current family, the mom's a dev working 9-5 and the dad's a criminal working at night, so they kind of parent and garden in shifts and on the weekend they hand the kid over to the nanny and go out to have a nice meal together ^^ but yes so excited about the gardening patch as I really love gardening!
