New Gardening Overhaul in patch

Yeah, but Grant said whatever they overhauled is coming free in the patch. That means it'll even affects games that don't have the Seasons EP.

All I'm really hoping for is a lessening of the time it takes to spray for bugs and weeding. I like all of the other aspects of gardening because it makes it a more interesting skill for me. I usually have at least 4 Sims in a household so there is always someone available to do the gardening. Plus it gives my elders something to do.

Mmm sounds like I will have to probably redo all my collection rooms that involves gardening or harvests ;) I see late nights of simming in my future lol

I am really curious to what has been changed with gardening. I don't expect sprinklers for free (not that I would complain if we did get them free). Probably something to do with the greenhouse I am guessing.

To speed up the growth rate on a cowplant, plant it in a planter and use the great soil lot trait.

I'd like to see that. The organization of inventory is one thing, but I also wish the option to buy one big bag of fertilizer to use on more than one plant. I hardly fertilize my plants lately, just because picking it for every single plant is quite time consuming and a bit annoying.

I really enjoy gardening (in the game - in real life, I have a black thumb). My Sims always have at least one plant for quick snacks between meals, and I try to get a pomegranate for the superfood salad. I don't find it all that difficult to keep a small garden - when you start to expand out to many plants it can get time-consuming, but as your Sim's gardening skill grows, the plants need less attention. (My one quibble is that spraying plants does take a bit of time.) I actually like fertilising the plants - I do wish the inventory were better organised, but I like choosing the fertiliser I want to use for each plant. (I don't think it actually makes a difference, but it makes me happy to think that I'm using the best fertiliser.)

I'm guessing, as mentioned above, that plants won't grow indoors anymore without glass roofs, and maybe we'll get the sprinklers in the patch.

Or a similar method to how it worked in TS2.

Put leaves, waste paper, food scraps into compost bin (I guess you could add lower grade/unwanted produce and bad/foul fish etc too), wait the requisite time for compost to process (was 6 hours in TS2) and fertilising uses up units in bin automatically.

That's also a good idea! I've spent quite a lot of time playing TS2, but not so much on gardening itself, so I forgot about that feature to be honest. Thanks for reminding me :)
