Yeah, but... it would be nice just to have more lots, right? Or the ability to place extra lots.

Yes it would. But we don't. :) So the only option is to evict the families if you want to place venues on the larger lots.

Maxis has always filled the nicer, larger lots and or in the middle of town square with their premades. I have been annoyed with this for many, many years. It's been true for as long as the franchise has been in existence. I've had to spend time eviting and bulldozing to build the game I wanted in every version of this game. It would be nice if we could get some worlds without any Sims in them, again. :)

Move the family out and place them on a smaller lot of you want to keep them. Then you are free to do what you want with that lot. (Almost) nothing is settled in stone in this game. You do what you want to do, that's the beauty of it.

I tend to bulldoze the 50x50 lots and the 64x64 lots because it feels like my loading times are faster if I don't have any large houses on those lots. I don't know if it's true, but it feels like the game loads better without having those lots.

I get some satisfaction out of booting the premades and bulldozing the homes, if I want the space. The Watsons can’t afford that huge farm, anyway.

That’s what I do. Evict the families and bulldoze the homes to make it what I want! ???.
I recently downloaded some 64x64 homes from watching some You Tube video builds. So you have to replace what’s there sometimes.

I have kept the Watson family but they have a much smaller farm.

I wonder if they’re going to make bigger lots than 64x64?

I'm quite happy with smaller lot sizes this far into game tbh

its great struggle to fill these big lots with anything that actually matters and we have tons of big lots in the game already for a castle or 10

also if the problem is family is living on lot you can always evict them or move them elsewhere

I like a variety of sizes for different reasons/gameplay. The problem is the number of lots in each world is limited so can't have a good variety to allow residential and commercial lots to make up a town. It is one of the disappointments for me with Sims 4 although I still love and play the game. After playing Sims 2 and 3 with the ability to place your own lots and make the community a true town, Sims 4 was a real adjustment. I too end up deleting townies to make room for my own sims, but I would have preferred to be able to have both. I use Newcrest for most of my community buildings as a type of "downtown" for my sims to enjoy. But I still really miss the ability to have more community lots in a town and enough residential areas.
