I mean, just about any country that isn't landlocked has beaches. Although when it comes to beach getaways, certain RL locations come to mind first.
Brighton and it's pier are what I usually think of when people talk about a beach holiday... well, aside from Australian beach holidays.
I grew up not far from where they filmed Jaws. The beaches here are boring. Just look at all that sand!

It still looks lovely though. Some of the beaches here are unfortunately polluted. :( And at worst you can still swim, tan, and play with the sand on that beach you showed. And surf if the waves are decent enough.
The beaches here with booming tourism also offer other fun stuff like banana boats, parasailing, jet skis, glass bottom boat rides, kayaking, etc. There are a lot of activities to choose from when creating a beach-themed pack.
The majority of the coast in this region is surfable.
But it can get pretty gross when seaweed washes up in heaps and mounds along the pretty white sand... and is in the water, and tangles on you if you try to swim, and is full of icky lice, and it stinks like rotting vegetation... a huge oceanic compost heap.
Oh, and did I mention Jaws? Sharks are an issue here, and there are no flags to swim between.

Why do some people think that beaches = tropical?
We don't really think that, but most worlds we have right now have beaches and aren't tropical: Brindleton Bay, the get together world that I completely forgot the name of... etc.
This is why most people assume beaches=tropical. But as I've said before, it could very well be a mediterranean/australian/latin american beach pack.
Exactly, we already have beaches. Beaches do not have to be tropical. And if they were to have Australian tropical beaches, they would be unswimable. :p
