The kits just keep the community engaged and give us extra optional content too. They don't have any reason to lie about it. They would just not comment on it at all.
I believe them also. I think this slow down has been planned and in the works for a while to allow for base game updates. We got Dream Home Decorator in June and Cottage Living EP in July and the Spa Day Refresh in September. And because of the planned slowdown in packs we have kits to provide some new content.

That first tweet is a JOKE. Where is the GAMEPLAY in them, besides that awful chore one? I'm tired of swatches and build/buy. Where is the gameplay? Why have they stopped caring about the occult players?
Unless any of these "refreshes" have content for us, I have no reason to believe in them anymore.
