No Arrest Interaction

I am so frustrated with the detective career. I'm so bad at it! My policeman finally has clues, he issued an APB, went to the location, and the suspect is sitting there. How does he arrest her? I can't find any interaction when I click on him or when I click on her. I've searched the "friendly" category, the "mean" category, the "mischief" category. Where do I find this interaction? I'm about to give up. I hate active careers!

Can someone please help me out? I've been trying for months to get this fellow to solve a case. Now he might be on the verge of success, but I can't figure out what to do. Everything I read just says "use the arrest interaction." I would love to use it... if only I could find it. :(

  • Try approaching the suspect and talking to them first and then see if that interaction appears in the social menu after that.

He's been talking to her, they've actually even been flirting, and nothing! I have figured out that she's a co-worker at the police station, and from the searching I've been doing that seems to create problems. At this point I just want him to move on to a new case. I'm trying to find a way to do that. I have "testingcheats true" active, and I can click on the suspect and get several DEBUG actions related to the detective career, but I'm not sure if I've managed to close out "The Case of the Red-Haired Bad Cop" or not. It's so frustrating! I'm sending him back to the police station now to see if he can get a new case.
  • When I had this bug I deleted the suspect's career right on the spot and could arrest her normally.

Problem is I do not remember whether I did this with MCCC or testingcheats true and shift clicking.

Worst case scenario: delete the suspect/co-worker in Household Management and the game should spawn a new one.
  • I got so frustrated...LOL... my detective came home to three squalling kids (including one wild toddler who constantly throws tantrums and bites people) and he couldn't take it any more. He quit his job, accepted an offer with the Simerian Bureau of Investigation (courtesy of a custom career I have in the game) and divorced his wife. One of the children was "a foster child he'd taken in" (the result of an alien abduction pregnancy) so he took custody of her and left Evangeline with the other two. He's now about to embark upon an affair with the former co-worker who was the suspect in his case. They had done a lot of flirting while he was investigating, and it makes for a very interesting storyline, don't you think?

Later, when my next young adult goes job hunting, I will have him or her join the detective career. Now that I understand it a little better, maybe I can have some success with it. Wish me luck!
  • Haha, oh my god, that's some developement! I'm loving it! Can totally see your poor sim being frustrated with a system that grants immunity to lawbreakers just because they work as cops. And it's intelligence/secret service next for him? Maybe he can bust the corrupt Chief of Police and restore order to the town, after all. Or will he go all villain under the influence of the former co-worker?

One of my cops married the Chief of Police, but she still shows up in her role for my other police sims. Also all playable and townie cops are organized in two clubs. Therefore the Chief is most likely to believe my playable cops when they tell her that a co-worker is the suspect (That's my in-story justification for using the career erasing cheat).
  • Good luck and happy simming to you! Isn't it marvelous that we can create so many fun stories? :)
