No desire to play

I am at the point where I have lost my desire to play the Sims 4.  I open the game and I decorate a house or create a Sim but that is it.  I play with that Sim for a few moments.  I ask them to do something and they stand there and stand there until the interaction disappears.  I ask them to do the same interation and its the same response.  This sucks because I have been a Sims player for over 20 years.  I owned every expansion pack for each of the Sims from Sims 1 to present.  Not sure what to do.

  • I just heard there will be another in game quest forced upon us. My desire to play is really tested. It has only been a few days since the icon of the previous one finally was removed fro the game. I left sims freeplay because of those events and now sims 4 is downgraded to be infested with one quest after another as well?

  • I agree with everybody who suggests taking a break. I put the game aside for a while because I was completely hooked on Baldur's Gate 3. Also, the event bugged out on me so I didn't touch the game for weeks and instead stuck to Baldur's Gate and Starfield. I did go back to finish the event once I found a working solution, but at that point it felt more like a chore than fun because I did the rest of week 3 and then weeks 4 to 6 in one go. Not sure about the new event they just announced. If it's as buggy as the last one, I'm not sure I wanna try it. I get why they introduce these events, and the last one was kinda fun until it bugged out. It did get me in the mood for the Life & Death pack, though, so that marketing strategy worked.

Anyway, bottom line is taking breaks can work miracles on your  motivation to play. It works with pretty much every hobby, too.

  • When I get bored of gameplay I make over my worlds. Taking advantage of the gallery has been a bit of a game changers for me.

Now when I start a new save I first spend time replacing all the ingame lots. Then when I do start playing, I have my sims get out of the house just about every sim day. Since I've replaced all the lots there is tons of stuff for my sims to go do.

There is a YouTuber named simgraze that makes good videos with lot recommendations. There is also a lot of talented builders on YouTube. When I'm trying to find lots I usually search on YouTube, the builders list their gallery ID in the comments.

Exactly! I was just about to post about this new event stuff coming up. I haven’t played my game ever since the Grim.R. stuff started and now that it is finished I was happy but just for a few minutes when I had to found out that the next “event force” is on the way to annoy us, once again. Nope, I’m not gonna play the game nor those stupid events!!! thanks EA! If these events become a habit now without the option to opt out, then this was it for me with Sims 4.

I've just posted similar. I've been away from the Sims since mid last year and I suddenly had the urge to come back. I've been away playing FF a lot!

But figured since I was really missing Sims I would come back but I'm not hearing anything great about it. I'm disappointed to hear that it sounds like pretty much all expansions are buggy. I really wanted to come back after I lost the desire to play but doesn't sound like it's worth it
