No Nails for Mermaids?
I suspect it is an oversight because accessories are limited in mermaid form, but I was disappointed none the less that I could put claws on my sea sirens.

I know I'm a little late, but I was working on a mermaid today and realized the same as what the OP said. I went over to the link given above to add a Me Too to this issue when I read there is a workaround, and I'll quote it right from the source so you don't have to go over there if you don't want to.
In short, all you need to do to get the nails to appear for the mermaids. While in mermaid form just remove all the filters, then the nails will appear as an option to place on your mermaid.

EDIT: I looked at this a little closer, and the nail polish is available if you are under the accessory super-category rather than a specific one (like rings, for example).
But the fingernails category isn't available as a specific choice.
For anyone looking for it:
On female mermaids, select accessories and remove the swimwear tag.
On males, do the same but also remove the feminine tag.
