Worth the investment? That's a matter of opinion. Infants are already likely going to be short on assets - just like toddlers and kids- in at least the next two packs. Is it worth the time and resources for them to develop yet another life stage that will likely be under supported in future releases?
Personally, I'd rather they put those resources towards expanding support for toddlers, kids and teens (and elders) than developing a new life stage.
But then, I didn't really want infants either (still don't, but they're here, so I'll deal. Same thing if they were to add pre-teens.) - SnaveXs3 years agoSeasoned AceI think growing taller should be a kids milestone that happens overnight before their birthday. The kid sim remain in the kid's category until their birthday.. They would just be taller when they have a birthday party. They could have certain foods stunt the kids growth. They'll remain the same short kid height until they turn into high school age teens.
- Honestly the issue is I just want teens to not look like YA so having them be shorter would help with that also having just more teen activities interactions cas so forth
I don't want whole another lifestage that doesn't particularily have anything to do that other lifestages don't already do
and adding lifestage wouldn't help with teens looking off either cause you'd still end up playing teen that looks like YA
sure i can dress my sims like they're teens but whenever you scroll over random sim its total guessing game if its teen or ya - EgonVM3 years agoSeasoned AceAgain, I have a concern that if they do get added, they are going to need a lot of animations for every pack in existence. Otherwise we go to Can play basketball -> Cannot play basketball -> Can play basketball.
Infants get a pass as nobody expects them to play basketball, jump into pools from diving platforms, juggle with the soccer ball, play console games etc. Pre-teens would need to be able to do all that (everything that can be done by both children and teenagers). - Babykittyjade3 years agoSeasoned AceI was thinking exactly the same as EgonVM. Infants won't do much overall but preteens would have to be able to to do everything teens can do and maybe kids. I just don't know if they are willing to go through all of that when the time could be spent adding to the current lifestages.
Preteens are not big on my list because I get by with making teens smaller but I wouldn't mind if we ever got them. I would certainly use them because I love to have a variety of ages and heights in my game. They said sims 4 has years left so there is still a chance we could get them.
Besides looking shorter though I'm just not sure what they could add that would set them apart from teens. Especially with the highschool pack we got that added puberty related stuff for teens already. Parenthood added all kinds of teen stuff as well so what would be different about preteens?
Kids barely have anything from clothes, to content as it is.
That's a lot of work just for a sim that will visually looks a little shorter and younger.
I do wish that if not preteens, we could atleast get preset heights or a single hight preset to select and make the teens we want shorter ourselves.
I do like having older teens and many of my teens I imagine to be 17+ but I like to have a few younger ones as well without being as young as a the kids we have.
Preteen is considered to be like what? 12?
I actually turned my child of many in real life years (aging off)into a preteen a few days ago with the help of height slider. She is going to be the big sister of a new infant that will be joining the family!
I think if we had an official shorter height preset (and some other new genetic presets as well)
That would be a helpful in making our own preteens! - Simmerville3 years agoLegendI don't really want any more life stages, but I'd applaud some adjustments made to the current teens.
- Their face could be slightly more childish to make a bigger change when they grow up to YA.
- They could be slightly shorter. They could just shorten the neck a tiny bit and lower the head a bit. This way I think there would be very limited animations affected. I don't even know if a teen can be kissed romantically by a YA, but I guess we could live with it even if it turns into an "upper lip kiss". The adjustments wouldn't need to be big enough for risking a "nose kiss" LOL.
- I would also appreciate if less clothes were set as teen clothing by default. We can of course easily adjust the outfits, but I think restricted CAS lists would make them feel more teens. I'm not sure if today's teens can wear about everything adults can wear, but I think they have access to clothes I would not think of as typical teen wear. Same goes for make up. (by restricted lists I mean only by default, but that we could access more by removing a filter, like we can actually use sports wear as formal wear, if we want to). - LadyGray013 years agoSeasoned AceI don't want another life stage either. A preteen is just a child, a child who is more mature than say a 7 year old, but still a child. Any differences between the two can be handled by the player. Changing their interests from dollhouses to computers, changing their clothing styles up a bit etc. I don't feel like we need "that" much realism.
I do agree with the complaints that have been there since day one, that teens are too adult looking. They needed to be shorter at the very least, so we could tell at a distance who the teens are. I can't tell you how many times I've struggled to find someone my teen Sim could actually flirt with or had an adult go chat someone up only to see that they are a teen. But, we all know why they got the same frame and we're stuck with it. Unless they ever plan to do a huge animation overhaul. If they ever come up with a good compromise, that isn't adding another life stage, I'll be happy. - Preteens are not big on my list but I wouldn't mind if got them. I would certainly use them a lote because I love to have a variety of ages in my game becouse I am a big story teller so it would be useful to me but I can't see them making them becouse they are going to need a lot of animations for every pack in existence so useful yes nodded to have fun witch the game no

They will also have to deal with what activities they can do, children’s toys or teenager things….. like which bike would they use, adult or children’s? Regular preteens probably do a bit of both normally. And I’m afraid clothes would be so lacking at this stage in the game. We are just barely starting to get a halfway decent amount of children’s clothes. I think children and toddler clothing, and build kits would sell quite well. I wonder how well little campers sold? It was one of my favorite kits, - Daephene13 years agoSeasoned AceI can see the point aesthetically but I can't imagine they'd have enough difference in gameplay to be worth the time. But I didn't think infants were worth the effort either and we'll find out soon if I was right about that or not.
