That's odd. I had my sim eat twice already, but with the "Get leftovers" interaction on the fridge, no problem. I will try with the plate on a counter.

Edit: I had my sim grab a plate from the counter, no issue. Do you repair your game after updates?

Also, the new posters you get from completing the Positivity Challenge are really cute. And when you keep the pile of gift boxes around after the challenge your sim can search once a day and find stuff. My sim found a frog on the first day. It's weird, but funny.

Do you have cc? I recall that being an issue for me on a previous patch. I think it is to do with counters if I remember

No I have no cc. After saving, going back to main menu and then start the game again, it seems to work again. However, sims not being able to take food has happened in 2 saves that I tested after the patch now (the first time resetting the cook helped).

been trying out the terrain tool (trying to make a hobbit hole even with the restrictions is a priority), still having some issues with making a routable path to the door, but otherwise it's loads of fun to play around with

You can turn whims on and off in the options menu under "Game Options".
And you can still earn points by completing your sim's aspiration.

Do you have either Enable Help Tips unchecked? That seems to do it.

Okay. I suggest exit without saving. Go in to your files and clear your localthumbcache and do a repair in origin.
