Babies in the cradle is ok. 'Infants'. You can age them up anytime. Something I didn't know when I first played.
Toddlers are awesome, but have to keep an eye on them. Because toddlers are all over the place. My first Sim, she had triplets as a single parent. Wow! I learned how to deal with toddlers in-game. Real life, toddlers can, and usually are a pain. I know that. ;)
Child is the 'coolest' phase. In my opinion anyway. In-game I'm impressed how they do chores autonomously. I do have to tell them to have fun like playing on the monkey-bars though.
Teenagers should be rebellious. I play teens that way.
For children, I love it!
