I feel your pain. I typically get attached to the sims I play from birth also. Like you, I don't like having aging off and long is too long. In the past, I've even shed a small tear when one of my favorite Sims died of old age. That's usually a good indicator that I've done well in raising them and giving them a good story (or letting the game give them a good story).
