- Is it true Sims just slide down a ladder? This is something I might expect from custom content (in the older games) where a well known modder said they couldn't get the animations correct and wasn't able to include custom animations with the ladder (from TS2) but not something I would expect from Maxis who has an entire professional team not amateurs and a budget and time to create the animations. It's all like well, it doesn't work like you would expect but here you go, just take it and wait for us to 'someday' animate it properly.

To be fair, we only see sims using the ladder to go down I think 2 (or 3) times in the trailer. And all those times they slide so either that's all they can do or maybe there is a hidden skill that makes them slide down if they get better at using the ladder? I think it's wishful thinking though. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they took the easier way out and just made a static slide animation for sims to go down the ladder... Well, I don't think it's being'fair'unfair if they slide at anytime not to critique that. They deserve the critique.
oops meant 'unfair'.- Sigzy_296 years agoLegend

This sliding down from ladder might be perfect fit only if it's used by sims with specific traits, but nope. there are no trait exclusive animations in The Sims 4. I think that it fits perfectly with daredevil-minded or athletic sims and the rest use normal going down a ladder animation.- It's really sad Sims in TS2 can go up and down spiral stairs without any bleeding into each other or pausing and waving their arms like in TS1 when the old guy playing a saxaphone was blocking them at the top of the stairwell and here it is 2020 and TS4 can't pay a good animator enough money to do things right the first time. But takes in more than a billion and brags about it and then expects the public to ooh and ah over it. And the sad thing is they already are, I saw posts so excited we get ladders! yay....

But you know we forgive modders since they are amateurs and install their stuff anyway knowing it's really hard to create custom animations when the animation doesn't exist in the game at all and nothing to tie that object to make it work correctly. We ignore it and keep on playing in the older games. I can hardly be excited for a ladder people are saying isn't animated properly and expect me to pay $40 for things half done.
