I'm very excited for the new babies too. Personally I don't think they will replace either our bassinet bound babies or our toddlers, as that would seem like it would mess up people's saves. I think it's a new lifestate between babies and toddlers. So we'll have "newborns" (bassinet babes), "infants" as the sims team referred to them, but I'm going to call them "early toddlers" lol, and our current toddlers, which will be "later toddlers" or maybe even preschoolers.
I could be wrong of course but that's what I think.
Interesting. I do wonder what they've got up their sleeves for us. I would say this will quite possibly make up (for me, at least) the freebie of the Base Game. I paid close to $70.00 for my copy and $5.00 Kit doesn't cut it in my book. Freed babies, an actual life stage, is another thing altogether. I know I cried the day the Toddlers dropped. They also ended up being far more than I ever imagined. Can't go back to Sims2 Toddlers, nor Sims 3 Toddlers. These ones in Sims4 are the BEST.
Also, I hate to get myself too excited at the same time. But, if they did decide to give us the stage between tethered babies and Toddlers, I wouldn't mind, that would work just fine. However, my Sims' first baby is already a Toddler, and his twin sisters will be Toddlers in just about five Sim days … So, depending on what they give us, I may still go back a save or two.
