Is it just me or are toddlers looking... off after the new update? :D Just had my first one after the new update and hand to god it looks like he has a 5:00 shadow. Am I imagining it? Did this happen to y'all?

Yes, they do look a tad old for their ages. I also noticed that with the Infants. What they have done is sculpted their faces, over them having chubby baby cheeks. A child only starts to have that sculpted 'older' look at about 5-8 years of age. The newborns should have the scrawny, meatless faces, that get fuller by six weeks of age. That's when most babies plump up, as it were. But, I can live with it. Which is a good thing as I don't believe EA would ever decide they needed to fix what they probably don't recognize as broken. :open_mouth:
I think the new baby-toddlers look a little weird and old too, sort of like Elmer Fudd with a little hair. After the skin tones and shading update EVERY sim has five o'clock shadow. lol
People always complain about old teens but I thought since forever that all of the ages below young adult look old for their age. Or their supposed age. You can get teens to look younger fairly easily but that's mostly only with the right cc and cc presets. I've always assumed it's just the artstyle but younger sims don't have enough distinction in their faces. Hard to describe but it's obvious by looking at them something is missing. That's why I'm disappointed that the majority of the cc skins people made for infants are just converted kid skins and the infants look even older as a result. An infant and a kid that age looks nothing alike in terms of youngness.
I think some of it is honestly how young the Young Adults look in this game. Their faces are kind of childlike to begin with. So I can see it being difficult to design younger ages that look more youthful yet are still distinct from each other.
I didn’t notice this until now, it’s a little creepy.
Yet I want more ages, I still want an age between child and teen with teens their own height back it’s been over eight years and I’d love to a have the option to make sims voices sound older/younger.
Then again remember new world where a teenage boy looks 30 while the married non binary sim with a toddler looks like a teen.
With all of these issues I have one thing to say, be careful what you wish for.

I empathize with this a lot. I'd like a pre-teen lifestage because someone who looks like 16 entering puberty is just odd. and in general I'd like a nice transitory stage, but I have a lot of doubts about EAxis being actually able to pull it off. Infants and toddlers turned out relatively fine, so who knows?
