I respect people's opinions, and I understand where some of them might be coming from.
I'm usually one of those people who get excited to see if something comes back in this game, and kind of gets bummed if it doesn't. I'm a huge fan of the Sims, so it is hard to not compare the games, but I realize that not every game will be the same. Sims 2 and Sims 3 were completely different. I don't expect Sims 4 to try to follow exactly every detail they did in a previous pack. However, I still make suggestions and express my opinions.
I do tend to relate the Sims 4 to previous series because it is what I'm familiar with and there are still things from previous packs that I think could be valuable in the Sims 4 (like a pack similar to Sims 2 Freetime please), but It's also exciting to get new content that we haven't had in previous series. I was a bit bummed about 'no hail' though. However, I wouldn't consider 'no hail' or 'no snow depth' a huge problem for me, as I'm mostly concerned about gameplay. I always look for new things to do. For others, snow (or realism/visuals in general) was probably a huge deal so I understand if they're upset. It is okay for them to rant as they please. If they don't want to buy the game, it's up to them if they don't want to. I believe they spent their time and resources creating amazing visuals, adding new content like the calendar, thermostat, kiddie pools, scouts, and adding other content from previous packs that people have also requested, like flower arranging, bee keepers, ice/rollerskating, etc. From what I understand, there is some depth, just not up to your knees. There are also blizzards. They still get to do interactions in the snow, like building a snowman, making snowangels, and you can also see footprints and paw prints, which kind of gives some illusion of depth as well.
There will always be pros and cons with these games but so far, from the sneak peeks, I'm loving the pack already and I can't wait for it to come out. Seasons is usually a huge game changer in any Sims series and the weather aspect on its own just adds more realism to the game already, in my opinion. So, If it were up to me, I'd still give it a chance since there are things that came back to the sims 4 as well as things that I don't think have ever been done before. o:)
