Option to disable vampires?

Would the lot trait that means you get very little visitors or hardly any not help with vampires?

I only buy packs I use so I have not tried it - but saw that said on facebook by another player.

I honestly don't understand why is it so difficult to implement a turn on/off option like we had in TS3. They just have to tell the game to not generate supernaturals. It's their code, they must know how to do it. It might be difficult to do with ghosts because when sims die they turn into ghosts, but vampires and aliens are an optional lifestate. This would solve everyone's problems: those who want to play their games without supernaturals but want to buy the packs (let's face it, aliens came with an EP about work!) and those who want supernaturals can absolutely enjoy them without risking having them tuned down because of complaints.

If we had that option, I would probably buy the new pack just because of the new world. And even though I'm not a fan of supernaturals, these vampires actually look fun to play and I would probably have a save just for them, but in my main saves, I don't want any vamps wandering around. So it's not about "don't like it, don't buy it" it's about having options and being able to play each save the way I want. It's about giving the phrase "you rule!" some actual meaning.

The person behind the MC mod is already working to add options to control the vampire population, so there's that at least.

@bythedreadwolf You can't totally turn aliens and vampires off. Aliens are part of the scientist career and need to be spawned for specific events and tasks related to the career, they also need to be spawned on Sixam. And vampires need at least the Grand Master vampire to be functional in game. I think you can safely delete them in other cases but for all I mentioned, you actually can't remove them totally. At best, I think it's possible for a modder to modify the way they spawn a bit. But nothing going any further than that because that would break the game.

True, maybe that's why Maxis hasn't implemented a turn on/off option. I can understand the aliens and ghosts, but vampires aren't needed for anything in specific. Vlad doesn't need to be in the game if you don't want vampires.

I don't understand all the arguing...how does having a disable vampires option toning down someone else's game? We were able to turn off all supernaturals except zombies in Sims 3 and even zombies could be disabled by disabling moon phases. This is a no brainer. Some days you may want Vampires, some days not...I would use the Build items constantly, but prefer to not always have vampires in every save.

@secretuk1965 (Someone may have answered this already as I have not finished reading the thread,) but you can age up a vampire using birthday cake whenever you desire. There are also ways to 'kill' vampires by other means, so the options are there if you do not wish them to be immortal. :)

this is what i'm afraid of. I want to buy the pack because I love Gothic and Victorian styles. I dont want Vampires ruining my other saves though.

There is this cheat to turn vampires human, has anyone tried it? traits.remove_trait trait_OccultVampire
