Other Jobs Sims Can Have?

With the new stuff pack coming out, it seems we will be able to have our sims Cater food?…I was wondering what are some other things some of us may not know that our sims can do as a side hustle or for a job? One of them I can think of is they can do nails for sims as a side hustle with the spa day pack, but what else is there?

  • With Spa Day they can also host yoga classes and meditation sessions, and give massages.
  • There’s the odd jobs available with Island Living. Not all are tied to Sulani by any means. My runaways and poor Sims often do furniture moving, lawns etc what I THINK would be “Craigslist” style. Then there’s plopsy. Listing paintings, knitting or whatever.
  • I mean running and youre own vet clinic, store, or bakery, those are literally side jobs, because they still have to go to their real jobs. Where as Dream Home Decorator and Paranormal investigator is their full time job. Not sure if they intended that or what, but

I know when I hire an entertainer, they choose sims of mine in other households who are musicians and comedians.

What I think they are technically doing with this side hustle option, is for you to try to establish your own jobs at home, then if lucrative, you can quit you day job and work from home all day.
Farmers can do this from selling their crops, the Trendi, both of those make a ridiculous amounts of money if you put your mind to it. The other one I found was the artifact table, with the archaeology skill all the way up, can pay pretty good as well. I think you can also sell your baked good from home to a bakery already. You can sell paintings, photographs and stuff like that too but the day job maxed out is a lot more money and stable. Also royalties from writing, producing, mixing music from home. Royalties from the social media videos you upload, if you have that sector available to you in your fame path.

New one I found with famous sims, you can launch your own brand, I'm not sure all the categories, but my 3rd time starlight accolade award winning sim recently had this option presented to her on the social media table and she launched her own beauty cosmetic line. Note sure if it's an update, but I love it!
  • Cottage living offers something similar to odd jobs. If you talk to the special characters of the world and offer to help with village errands. You can talk to the owner of the market stall, the owner of the bar or the creature keeper. You earn a bit of money and some objects.
Horse ranch also comes with some form of odd jobs.

Sims who work from home and earn money by crafting objects can sell them on plopsy (nifty knitting SP required) to get a higher selling price

If your sim is earning money through any means that is not an official job, they can use the phone and call the ministry of labour to register as self employed. You can give them a job title. If other sims ask for their job in a conversation, they should give this custom job description. I have used this for my archaeologist who earned money with the archeology table.
  • I know you can get a bit of cash by selling produce that you grow or make - using the market stand thingy (outdoor activities section of build / buy mode).
With my keen gardener sims, I find just bulk selling their excess fruit and veg pulls in more than you could make in a day on the stall though. I usually harvest a couple of each type of crop that I'm running low on, then do an area-wide sell.

Skills like comedy, music and dj can earn you tips if performed publicly, maybe even acting but Im not sure.
There is also an item that lets musicians busk for tips anywhere, its a portable thing that came with city living (creative category).
  • I just got a lot of money winning gold in horse competition on expert level. As soon as I exited the equestrian center stadium, I called ministry of labor and registered as champion horse ranch owner!
  • If you sell the rewards from social events, you can actually make quite a lot of money from doing so. Most rewards from gold-level events are at least several hundred simoleons, and the Incognito Costume Party gets you the llama statue and starcruiser jungle gym totaling over 12,000.
  • I like to have my sims be Plopsy sellers. I register them as self-employed, and have them sell photos they've taken or paintings they've painted.
