Overweight Sims

I am wondering if you like to take the challenge to help some overweight Sims in the game to get fit or if you just accept them for the size they are? Personally I love the challenge of those foodie or slob sims who love to eat and sit around. (Except giving the Scientist potion to make Sims thin or the aspiration reward insta-lean!) We all know that eating and sedentary can lead to weight gain. I am not saying I don't love seeing those bigger Sims in the game, I love seeing the diversity. My Sim being a foodie gets big and I love the challenge to get her lean again. I wonder if your Sim has ever taken the challenge to get another Sim leaner and fit.

I'll let mine be chubsters I'm fine with it. Sometimes I will make them that way is CAS. How dull the world if everyone was the same. I need diversity in my game that goes beyond race.

I like the diversity in the game too. But I am sure those Sims that over eat would start getting back to their size again unless they were active. It is interesting to see them getting fit or gaining weight again.

I often like to experiment with the potions in the science career too just to see how different those Sims look after drinking potions to increase of decrease size. I gave a slimming potion to one of the overweight trainers at the gym, (he didn't really look like a fitness trainer). After drinking it he looked really toned but still quite "chunky" and seemed pleased at his new look LOL. He looked the part of a fitness trainer now HA!

Of course mentoring someone to fitness is a good way to increase friendship too!

I don't mind them being curvy, but try to keep all my sims fit. Most of the time I use the gym as a place for my singles to meet sims as its the place in my game where everyone goes. The gym is always packed, even Grim hangs out there frequently. Super fit sims are nice, but they live forever -- no joke!
  • I rather let my sims be the size the want to be and not skinny shame or fat shame them. i like having a lot of diversity in my like race, gender, sexuality, bodytypes etc. so i rather let them be the way they are then to change them in any way
  • Those of you with chubby toddlers, are you able to get the weight off of them? I've noticed this just in the last couple of months and it getting annoying because every single toddler is chubby. If I play with genetics with the parents the choices are always like the parents, but in the game itself every single one is chubby
  • Part of the problem is that sim will autonomously try to eat or sleep when they are only in the yellow, which is an irritation of mine. I don't think sims should do those things unless they are orange/red. The exception being glutton sims which would make sense that they try to eat when they are only a tad hungry.
  • Sometimes if I see them getting tubbier I just go with it; other times I'll have them work it off if it doesn't seem to fit with the type of personality they have, or the mental image I have of how they are. For instance I had one sim who was a chubby toddler, chubby child and chubby teen; when she grew up to young adult I random rolled "active" as her last trait, and her aspiration is nerd brain so she needs to go to space. I put her in the astronaut career and it was just a natural progression for her to slim down with all the fitness points she needs for that career (plus she enjoys it). Other times I don't bother; I had an artistic, dreamy sim who just gained it all back every time she slimmed down so I stopped trying. It didn't bother her, so why should it bother me? I rarely do anything as drastic as use a potion or change them in CAS, but sometimes the game takes them to a body type I just don't think they would have, on both the light and heavy side, when I'm not playing them.

I had one guy who aged up to an adult at a party thrown at his brother's house, and when I got back to his house he had not exactly gotten fat, but had developed a total dad bod. It was hilarious and suited him so I just left it.

Also the game lots are trait specific you won't find a lazy sim at the gym unless he comes with you, very often. Also food does have immpact on weight.

That's not exactly true, sometimes they just need to be at a certain amount of Fitness skill to start visiting autonomously. Also when their Fitness skill has maxed, they ofc stop visiting. A great example of this is a lazy slob Sim that was a Townie that I play and he surprisingly didn't lose nor gain any weight, but to be on the safe side I had him exercise a little more to gain a decent amount of Fitness skill. After I left his household to focus trimming the fat from another household at the gym, I found that Sim visiting the lot on his own now too.

I do a lot of challenge play where your sims are starting out with 0. I deliberately made a heavier sim for one just because I thought it would be more interesting, and because she didn't have a stove for the longest time and could only make salads and because she was constantly taking her dog for a job, she slimmed down right away and actually got a bit too skinny so I've kind of enjoyed having her be able to make more fattening, but more interesting foods.
  • They've actually nerfed fat gain since Sims 4 released, when you compare obesity levels in the western world our Sims have a relatively easy time of staying in shape. One of my Sims is a glutton, but also active. She's an Astronaut and the house contains a treadmill, she autonomously pounds the living daylights out of the thing night after night and her husband works nonstop in the kitchen making cakes so she doens't waste away.

I did a "fat camp" challenge recently where I took 8 fat, lazy, slobbish, glutton sims to see how long it would take to slim them down, controlling only one sim at a time (Switching control at midnight). Using "encourage to workout" interactions, got the whole household slim after about a week. Once you hit level 4 and can "endurance run", game over. Usually there's an abrupt change in size the moment they hit Fitness level 5, instantly transforming from "obese" to "curvy" or "slim".

On my normal games, I always put a treadmill in the living room in front of the TV or next to the stereo. In fact I don't bother much with dining tables and sofas are a low priority. The living room is a space where my sims can work out, paint, write, or program while getting entertained by tv and music and still be close enough to socialize with one another. It's also important to have a nice bathtub so they can soak off any sore muscles post workout.
  • I like to just put my sims through trials by making them bigger and or smaller in terms to weight. With certain sims they look better large and in charge, chunky yet funky, while others look better slim.

I usually make workout groups the first play, gathering locals and taking them to the gym for a mass run, Bob Pancakes is a hunk once he’s lost the pounds, and Bella is a babe once you’ve given her some birthday cake....say five or six....

I don’t automatically see a sim and think omg you need to hit the treadmill!
A sim is perfect regardless...although their appearance is always open to improvement.

It’s also fun seeing what triggers weight loss/gain, some sims I’ve noticed can handle all the carbs and gain nothing while others take a bite and instantly gain like twelve pounds! Ironically the sims that are naturally able to keep slim aren’t gym rats, they’re just lucky I assume. The ones who gain it too fast, again, I assume it’s like people, some can eat all the food and still fit in their jeans, or they can breathe in some dust and have to jog ten miles to get back into their jeans,

Right now I’m having a glitch where ALL my sims kids are chubby, no idea why, it’s definitely a glitch because in all my locals none of them have slim kids, despite them barely eating and being active at the park behind the houses. I even created groups for them to go swimming and thus far only two have lost weight, meaning the code is somewhat messed up. I’m wondering if EA have introduced something because certain sims are having issues with eating vegetables and or meat dishes, I’m curious if they’ve made them picker or have unspoken allergies
