Yeah I've actually had the same question for a while. But I've also noticed that when babies aren't hungry they will reject being fed. So maybe this feature is there to prevent overfeeding them by mistake when they need social or a diaper change. I'm sure eating when not hungry should affect their weight when they're toddlers and children though.
