I'm experiencing this same bug since the October 1st patch. Social events attended are completing, but thrown social events are not completing, whether they're seen through to the end or not. This is the only way I've found around it:
- Throw a social event.
- Cancel the social event.
- Switch the sim to a different aspiration.
- Save and quit the game without doing anything else.
- Reopen the game and go back to the corresponding sim in the household, wherever they are.
- Switch the sim back to the Party Animal aspiration.
After doing that each time, it progresses the needed number of thrown parties by one. :\ Incredibly annoying, but at least there's a work around. However, it's also not counting my progress towards number of gold parties needed, no matter how many I complete. Still troubleshooting to see if I can find a way around that one, too.
