Did a quick test run of the patch one of my computers and it at least booted up and allowed me to start a new vanilla game without issue, but I didn't play it long as it is my daughter's game (not mine... I've been playing offline just in case). All I did was reboot her computer after getting the Microsoft and reboot message.

I've had a Sim family living in Granite Falls for a long time. I just don't bring them home from vacation.

I've done that but it's really not ideal. Having a baby? Got to go to real home lot. Kids at school? Will go back to the home lot. Etc. And I think you can't go to work? I don't find it a good long term solution myself. Hopefully they work on allowing us to change lots in Granite Falls and Salvadorada.

That might be the technical issue they're working on. I wish Sims could go to work from wherever they are -- I'll send my San Myshuno Sims out to visit a food cart for breakfast (some of the choices are a bit weird, I admit), then they get the Go To Work queue and have to go back to their apartment before they can head off to work. :/

Zerbu has updated his mod to enable living in GR or Salva. I was tempted to try it but the old version caused issues in my game so I didn't download it. I hope EA is working on it and not just calling it done. Feels like half an update as is, to me. Which is perfectly fine if they just need more time.

When I have sims in SanMy I always have them live in the same neighbourhood the carts spawn to avoid the extra load screen.

Yes, what gets me is the issues of going to work or school while in a vacation world. I was able to hit "go to work" to send a sim, but something glitched and after that, I could not send the sim to work again (after clicking on their icon after work to bring to vacation lot), even once they returned to the home lot. I don't think you can give birth while on vacation either, as the person mentioned above. I also don't think you can have a club gathering while on vacation. I also wish a Sim could live in the magical realm.

The only work around I've found if you have Seasons installed. I'd create "Summer Vacation" (or equivalent) holidays where no one was required to go to work/school, to avoid kids failing or Sims being demoted. It is frustrating to not be able to make progress while doing so.

They need a virtual school option now, like the work from home careers (with tasks to do) to allow Sims to go on vacation and simulate #COVIDlife. That would be useful as a workaround for the vacationing issues. I do hope the patch is only the halfway mark (adding rental lots anywhere) so it works the other way around soon.

This ^^ I would love them to do an update like this, and include not only home schooling, but military, boarding schools (Sims 2 Style), and a high school expansion pack overall. It’s been said that the game is unevenly skewed towards the YA life state for a while now, and I definitely agree. We need more stuff to do and more unique opportunities and details for literally every other lifestate.

After no crashes for days after the patch, it crashes today after I got Snowy Escape. Trying the -nosound workaround that SimGuru Nick suggested in the news post. (i usually play with sound off, but put on my head set and could hear there was some horrible screeching audio feedback) Fingers crossed!

Doing that didn't solve the crashing issues, which in my case were very rare (once every 2-3 hours) and I noticed it crashed every time my sims got a table at a restaurant. What ultimately did the trick was playing without sound, like a post here mentions.
