Nice pool with three waterfalls? Do you mean Mua Pel'am in Sulani (the island with a volcano)? If so, the case is solved. When swimming there, there is a rare chance that sim gets pulled underwater by a black mass. Should that happen, there's a chance that the unfortunate sim drowns regardless of their energy need.

I really feel like this is a glitch considering that vampires aren't suppose to drown at all. Like they don't breath what is water in their decayed lungs going to do?
I would just cheat to resurrect him considering they couldn't drown in previous games.
They couldnt ? I remembered i drowned a vampire mother in sims 3 back in the days
You sure? Cause I remember that vampires never tired while exercising (accidentally left one to run for an entire day at full speed) and I believe when they scuba dived they couldn't die from their oxygen tank depleting.

That may be the case in TS3, and TS4, but what I think Vampris is saying is that in all other vampire lore the idea is that vampires simply can't die of drowning. They can drown, in the sense they can have their lungs filled with water, but it won't kill them. Most likely just annoy them a great deal.
I would also bring him back, but the choice is ultimately up to you if you want to follow Sim lore or what the rest of the world considers lore.
Yeah abit of that too, vampires not breathing is kinda universal and water in the lungs ain't gonna hurt them.
I feel like that changed with Get Famous expansion pack where sims could drown in water gardens when they jump into it or fall into it. I think they can drown in ocean because Grim Reaper only appears with this death. I have tested it by making the weather really cold with cheats and making sims swim in ocean. Once they froze to death, they did the drowning animation, but Grim Reaper didn't show up and instead of becoming an urn floating in lifesaver, those sims became gravestones that were stuck on the ocean floor.
