The good:
Immersion in general - it's wonderful to see the ice on the windows and be cozy inside with the fireplace going. It's wonderful to see the leaves changing colors and weather having some effect on our sims. This is the great good that keeps it in my game.
Showering in the rain was really one of the only ways to get my off grids clean, it was a fun addition (mostly).
Swing sets ... finally.
The calendar.. don't always use it or pay attention in every save but I like the preloaded holidays and know with a little effort on my part I can make them over... with less effort I can erase the bulk of them.
Patchy rules!
Love the more traditional holidays with Father Winter and Flower Bunny especially, and getting the family involved in festivities when I'm playing them.
Opps forgot skating and gift giving.. Gift giving was a want/need of mine for a long time.
The bad:
Too many cloudy days... it's gotten to me and makes me enjoy some worlds less.
The settings to turn off the weather not always working (but mostly working).... but still too many cloudy days..
The weather station thing is too big and rarely fits in my sims homes ... but can break if out in the weather. Hmm might need to start putting this in a utility closet.. just thought of that... maybe that's my answer.
I've had a hard time adjusting to gardening. The science garden was whacked because of the changes made. I don't like how rare some harvestables are on grafted plants.. the percentage is too low, you shouldn't have to wait a sim lifetime to have it propagate. I can't have a year round outdoor garden unless I splice everything onto sage bushes. I've had to get really creative to have larger gardens.
The tension that comes from storms... I get it but storms are so frequent if you don't have them turned off that it is often too much.
