I had a cat I directed to mate with Mayor Whiskers, but they just ended up fighting, so I had them try again and my sim got a moodlet saying the mating had failed. I tried a third time and the option was grayed out, saying something like "spayed pets can't mate" even though my cat isn't fixed. I decided to just leave it, as I already had a pretty full house at that point. However, a few day later, I get notified that the cat had gone into labor and she had two kittens, one of whom looks exactly like Mayor Whiskers, minus the clothes, so I know he was the father. I'm just confused because, again, I wasn't notified that she was pregnant, even though this time I had directed the two cats to mate.
