Phone Calls, Text Mssgs, Mailbox & Emails


I usually had my phone on silent, but lately I'm enjoying new calls and can't help thinking of other things that would make my game more fun. Anyone else want more different types of phone calls, emails, snail mail, text messages or for them to prompt gameplay events? What would you like added?

Phone Calls:


  • Invites to the library. My Sims always want to go the bar and lounge. No one wants to hang out at a library? :cry:
  • Vacation invites. My Sims friends should invite my Sim on a vacation, mountain climb, camping trip.. I'm always taking them along and never getting invited in return.
  • Sims to find stray pets and ask if they want to adopt them.
  • Calls from social workers to adopt/foster an orphan.
  • Sims to call and offer items they are donating like kitchen deco objects, appliances, furniture, toys for kids etc.
  • I don't want anyone to call my Sim and ask for a date unless they are friends or have the serial romantic aspiration. I can't even say hello to the nice married elderly man playing chess at the park without fearing him calling my Sim up for a date the next day. :neutral:
  • Friends should call friends or family for career/pregnancy advice.
  • Coworkers could call about promotions/demotions and invite to work dinners/parties to get to know coworkers.
  • Adults shouldn't ask teen or child Sims for advice.
  • Please take cell phones away from toddlers, unless you make them sound like toddlers talking or texting then that would be adorable. "Hiii I'm txtng u from daycare with the tablat, miss u"
  • If my Sim has maxed a skill then Sims can call and ask about the skill and gain skill points themselves.


Text Mssgs

  • Congratulations on your kid graduating aging up, graduating university, maxing a skill, getting promoted in a hobby, or just having good behaviour etc.
  • Complaints from neighbours like your front lawn needs to be mowed, rake the leaves, take down your winterfest decorations it's summer
  • Texts from Sims who are at work or school and are bored.
  • News texts.
  • Weather related texts.


Mailboxes

  • Gifts in the mail for every holiday.
  • Coupons.
  • Funny junk mail.


Emails

  • Read email messages from other Sims.
  • Offers for discounted items.
  • Coupons.
  • News stories.

    Not much to do at the library, there is the librarian and you're not supposed to talk. Maybe they could have study groups or presentations on certain nights, where sims could skill faster if they attend. Anyway, I would like invites for shopping, or walk in the park, things like come fix my TV or sink, or baking requests.

    While I so like some of your suggestions better than EA calls, EA should clearly Not consider adding more calls before fixing the current flaws and adding a mailbox with the option to call back to accept an jnvitation at a time your Sims choose, and an option to delete all messages currently stored with one click.

    Yes yes yes totally yes! It's the only thing I ever liked about the slice of life mod. She had an amazing social system. It's in the middle of being updated so I haven't tried it lately. But anyway I love phone calls and invites. But I don't just want phone calls I want family to text me and tell me they miss me, they love me, etc etc. Sims would send wholesome texts in slice of life that made me say awwww and go visit my sims family lol

    With a variety of ways to respond. More invites, more strange/creepy calls from your stan (if you're a celebrity sim) we need some mean responses too. For angry or mean sims. It's no fun if all you can say is okay. Like when the principle calls for missing school.

    Love your idea regarding complaints from neighbors! It's the only thing I like about apartments. How the neighbors are a bit interactive.

    I banned the PC from my sims but would still like emails, letters, definitely news stories. Preferably with a newspaper though.
    We need cops and robbers. And if your sims (with certain traits like paranoid) reads a news story about crime they get scared/extra paranoid for a while. Certain other sims would feel more protective over loved ones.

    And definitely need a way to prepare for invites.
    Overall I would love a deeper social system in that regard. I loved the amount of invites before it got nerfed. So this of course needs to have a way to turn off calls. Either for players who don't like calls or for sims you just don't want to have a cell.
