All I could do for Club Points was go fishing. paradiseplanet is right about not being able to plant outside of lots it seems. Here you can see the two planter boxes (with plants already in them) here in the winter snow. Perhaps you weren't looking near the chess tables? I didn't notice them there the first few times either because they're tucked out of the way.
