Please Save my Sim!?! [I got super lucky]
I started a new save. I answered the Create a Story questions (even wrote them down on some paper for reference...) Then I tweaked and dressed and named a new Sim. Yes, the computer was left idle...

Okay, I got super lucky. Real world errands and waiting (and hoping) for a reply later, I tried a second google on the issue.
Also confirmed that Madison had not at that time saved to the Gallery and that my game was indeed still stuck.
Upon using Alt+F4 to exit the game (which assured me that the game was in a state where saving was not possible...) I deleted the cache and repaired the game to happily discover that Madison Ford had saved to my local library!! Apparently the stall must have occurred during the upload to the internet. So, yeah, I'm happy Maidson survived!! :)
