Please, stop sims from automatically doing what they hate!

Why is this still a thing after all these years?

Why do vegatarian sims still grab meals with meat on them?
Why does a sim who hates violin music keep going out of their way to listen to another sim playing the violin in their own room?
Why do they start dancing to music they hate?

This just makes all of them very annoying, next to boring because they never do anything interesting on their own.

I'd advice the likes and dislikes being updated so that they will avoid their dislikes and NEVER do them on their own. Nothing is crucial after all, they can grab a quick meal if they hate cooking.
I'd also advice adding more stuff to it, like pack specific things maybe.
Like lightsabers, vampires, werewolves, magic, etc.

Absolutely agree. The meat eating vegetarians are so self-destructive, it would be hilarious if it wasn't so annoying. It's like they all have a meat addiction so they eat meat at every meal and then hate themselves all day, while falling into a spiral of despair, lol.

I think the Sims could definitely use a bunch of behavior tuning. They still gravitate to the same annoying generic objects, like the computers and tvs, even when they have a dislike for it and a farmyard full of animals or other options. They continue to act against their own traits and interests. They repeat the same mistakes and fall into excessive habits that make no sense to their personalities. Wrangling with them to behave according to their traits and preferences is a frustrating ordeal. ?

Sounds a lot like RL humans.

That's what I was thinking. We always waste time on our various screens, even if it's on things / apps / whatever that don't really bring us joy, and even if things that DO bring us joy are just there waiting for us within reach. Humans can be pretty self-destructive too. And maybe we like to eat healthy but the donut is just there, and we're bored - so many people eat like that. And then hate themselves afterward lol.

I wouldn't want Sims to NEVER initiate actions they dislike, but there should be a reason they're doing them despite disliking them. Some greater desire, need or obligation they have no other way to fill save through the Dreaded Activity.

On this note, I'd love to see The Sims explore the concept of Obligation/Duty in addition to needs, wants, preferences and fears. For example, some parents might feel a duty to put their kids' pleasure before their own, so a Sim parent who hates children's music but has a kid who loves children's music might reluctantly turn the radio to that station and suffer the whole time, but experience a more powerful positive moodlet afterward for having witnessed their kid's enjoyment.
  • I agree 100 %! I have Sims who hate mischief and pranking, yet the option to prank toilet and do other mischief things are still there for my mischief-hating Sims. It just doesn't make ANY sense at all.
  • To follow up on that, why should sims with the good trait have the option, let alone do mischief things on their own? Yet that happens all the time.

Funny thing: when I checked my mods yesterday after the patch I noticed that they actually implemented something concerning this issue (although it's not mentioned in the patch notes). Sims who dislike fitness should now not autonomously swim (although I'm not entirely sure if this was added to all relevant interactions, but at least to some).
  • They still actively go to another room with music they hate to dance to it though.

It's kind of a nightmare in my 8 sim adult household all with different ambitions and tastes. I don't think there's any music that none of them hate.

    They are good, not saints!
  • I don't mind sims being able to do things against type if you tell them to do it, but they should not do it on their own unless they feel like they have to. Like a lazy sim cleaning up some dirty dishes once it starts to smell.

I wouldn't mind the less likely interactions to not pop up first though, then again the whole pie menu is a big mess that gets worse every game when it comes to sim on sim interaction.
Favoured actions could pop up first maybe.
