I try to keep mods to a minimum. I have mccc and a few others. Mccc offers me al the cheats I need for setting up stories for my sims neighbours. The other mods are mostly to fix bugs or give an extra option that should have been part of the game to begin with (according to my personal taste)
when it comes to CC I use as little as possible, unnatural haircolor for children, unlocked pointy ears and a shirt under the many tops that show their bellies.
Reason why I severely cut down mods compared to Sims 2 are the frequent updates. Keeping my mods up to date should take no longer than 5 to 10 minutes.
