I wouldn't mind having things slowed down a bit. I'd like days to last longer and years to last longer. I'd also like the marriage inheritance phone call to give Sims at least two weeks instead of only one week.
But I would also like the fast-forward button to work better. My fast-forward button often slows down so I have to check my email while I wait for my Sims to finish sleeping.
I like the idea of a slower pace with more detailed animations.
