Poor design choice for laundry machine

Yes! And I actually do like the design of them, though I think they look a bit too wide, much like every oversized object on TS4.

My only pet peeve is the clothes line, there's not modern looking one.

Agreed; for every "country bumkin 'appliance'" there should be a modern looking equivalent. Well I guess for the washtub there's the washing machine but...

The problem with top loaders are two:
1. They would require twice as much work, since it would require twice as much new animation
2. You can't stack them.

As for lazy design... Have you been in an appliance store lately?

Well idk about America but these ones are pretty much the norm here like you rarely see washers that are not like this (I mean the interactive lcd screen is a bit much, this is probably some latest model but you get the point):

Front load washers are way more common in the US than they used to be, but you still see a lot of top loaders, especially in rentals (they're cheaper, or have been).

@JesseJay I see what you're saying with the two units being identical, but if you look at modern washer/dryer sets, the two pieces are often virtually identical. They couldn't put one of everything in the game, so it seems like a valid choice. Plus, front loading high efficiency washers are, dare I say it, more eco-friendly than the older top loaders which typically use a lot more water I can't believe I'm spending this much time thinking about fake laundry machines.

I understand why there isn’t, because there’s a clothesline and a washtub, but I still wished that there was a second set of laundry machines that look different; instead of just one.

Where I live, front-loaders are far more common than top-loaders so I'm happy

Front loaders these days are far more popular because they save water, thus can qualify as "eco-friendly". And you could just get the washing machine then use the clothesline to hang clothes to dry for additional eco-friendly options.

For me, I would take both being I do not have any preference, while it is coming next tues. :)

There are stackable top loader washers - just use google.
Top loaders have been made more energy efficient in the past few years. Top loaders actually get the pet out of the clothes better than a front loader

My household has a toploader. Elsewhere I have encountered way more frontloaders than toploaders. I have problem with neither, but I always liked how frontloaders nicely stack and save space. I would say the dev team prioritized well when they chose to have similar designs for washers and driers as they wanted to focus on other animations.
