I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. Something to remind me that this is The Sims 4, and there has to be some very shallow elements and cut corners, or some horrible bugs, or something that's just horribly implemented that makes things worse. But reading a summary of the livestream thread, I'm just so hyped with the pack.
- You can customize and manage small elements, like messages in wills. But things aren't all about micromanaging, because sims will still have their own reactions and ideas - and they're trait-sensitive, too.
- There's the main gameplay (the Soul's Journey, dealing with death and playing as a ghost), but a lot of side gameplay, too.
- You have small details that don't make much of a difference, but make the game feel more immersive and thought-out (Chased by Death becoming Embraced by Death; the swings moving on their own.)
- There's a lot of passive gameplay, but there's much, much more focus on active gameplay.
- Multiple traits with their own unique elements of gameplay.
- Wills are especially thought out, even in ways I never would have expected.
- A bunch of quality of life changes, like ghost coloration.
- Measures to keep the new gameplay from being too intrusive.
- Try for Baby with the Grim Reaper.
- The active career has varied gameplay.
- There's unique stuff to do in the town, that isn't a rabbit hole.
- Even the BB has variations, making it fairly versatile.
Big ideas are fleshed out. There are little ideas that provide a lot of fun gameplay. Things feel thought out. There's a lot to do. So many things just connect together in a very logical way. For the first time in a while, this feels like a genuinely fully fleshed-out pack with a ton of content. Potentially, it might be the best Sims 4 pack.
Same! I was already interested in the pack when it was announced because I have a soft spot for the macabre, I love a good goth ghost story and all that, but I've been very hesitant to pre-order the pack because, you know, EA, and when the Reaper Rewards event bugged out on me, I was like "Yeah, no, not gonna buy that one, who knows how buggy it's going to be".
Then I watched a video review and was like, OMG, I NEED this, like, right now. Pretty much everything about it looks either cool or fun or both, I love the little references they built in (calling the training dummy for the Grimterns Kenny, for example) and like you said, it feels thought out.
Also, I'm not one to let her beloved Sims die, but now that ghosts get a lot more to do, I think I'll sacrifice at least that one guy everybody hates already, including his wife. I think he would make a great mean ghost, and I love the idea of everybody having a really great time at his funeral because he's finally gone... and then he returns as a mean ghost to terrorize them all.
So, long story short, I pre-ordered, bugs or no bugs, because I wanna start playing that story, and others š
