Postponing the patch?

Earlier today, I disabled automatic updates in Origin in an attempt to avoid the latest patch. Not because I don't want it (I do!), but I'm currently in the middle of shooting an episode for my machinima series, for which I need my mods in working order, and I can't wait until they're updated because I'm already falling behind schedule. I'd rather wait with the patch and install it later, when the episode is finished.

That didn't go as planned. I just tried to launch the game again after a break, and it says I can't because there's a mandatory patch to be installed first. :disappointed: Since I've never tried to postpone a patch before, I didn't know that was going to happen. But what's the point of disabling automatic updates if it just means I have to update manually before I'm allowed to play again? And any ideas how I can get around this now?

Thanks for your suggestions. I usually avoid playing offline because it cuts off access to the gallery and doesn't count my hours (I'd like to see after every scene how long it took me to film), but if that's the only solution for now, I'll do it this way.

I don't turn my game off on patch days - until I'm ready to actually patch.

Yeah, silly me! I knew a patch was coming and should have just left the game running during dinner. But I don't usually leave the computer on overnight, and filming for a single episode takes up too much time to do it all in one sitting, so that would only have put off the annoyance till tomorrow...

I always switch to playing offline until all mods are updated, I'm not sure when I will update because I am noticing other bugs getting reported as well, apparently the Cottage Living NPC's are getting replaced and loads of sims are also shown having fame?

I might play HSY on my laptop tomorrow because I don't feel like updating my game here on my main computer...
  • Please help! I went to go on Origin to put my game on offline so I can try playing without the patch being installed. But my Origin isn't working. Also tried going directly into my Sims 4 game but keep getting error: MSVCP140.dll not found. Said to reinstall program but won't allow me to uninstall it due to same error. Is there a workaround for this? Never had a problem before.
  • Downloaded the EA App and I can access my games that way. Found it works if I go to the Origin online which shows me as logged in? So I know I will be able to at least access my games. But would like to get rid of Origin if not working. Thank you so much for your advice @logion! It is very much appreciated. I was contacting support but it said will be back to me in 72 hours so I didn't finish. I will try restarting and if it doesn't work will uninstall it the hard way. Thank you for the link!

I play mostly as offline. But I still browse gallery a lot,
I connect online again when my game is already running.

I didn't realise you could connect while the game is already running and still enjoy all the amenities of playing online, as if you had been online from the getgo. But I just tried it and it worked. Thanks for the tip! That solves most of my problems for now.

After reading all about everybody's issues with this patch, I will most definitely be postponing it.

Besides the aging up issue and other bugs.....

The super ridiculous obsession with the phone (because you know, they weren't obsessed with it enough before, evidently), until that's tuned to make sense or a modder fixes it, I for sure won't be updating!

I heard... Makes me glad that I was in the middle of a project that prevented me from updating right away. I have no time or patience for people who are obsessed with their phones in real life, don't need them in my game either, and that ageing bug would drive me crazy.
