The sims 4 do not operate with pre-order bonus just early buy incentives. The current one runs to September 5. It is unfortunate that you are not able to buy the expansion before that. But let's face it these kind of incentives Pre-order and early buy are here to stay because we are talking business here and it works in driving people to get the game/expansion earlier. If it did not work like that companies would stop offering them. As for including them in base game for all at a later time then some people that got it early would feel cheated. You could argue that they could offer the items for sale later but since it is only a few items the price would be so low that the overhead on sale would likely mean that it would not be financially feasible.

Forgive the late response. The forum decided that 1) no one replied to this thread, even when refreshing, and I assumed it died. 2) I got 0 notifications for it. So, I’m going down the list and including this little note at the top of every post I respond to.
Pre-order is just another term for early buy incentive. It’s a bonus for buying the game/pack before the game/pack is ready. It’s an outdated system that was done so that you’d get the game on release for physical copies of the game. You know, midnight releases of Call of Duty. You could pre-order a copy to make sure you’d get it.
The thing is that most other companies offer these same items later on down the line. You get them as a, “Hey, thanks for pre-ordering/showing interest in the game and helping us pay for development :)! Here’s a bonus for free for you.” These aren’t usually actual objects, more small details and small bonuses here and there and, 9/10, you can buy these same things in the store or via currency. The Sims 4 is now free. Why not shove them into the Deluxe Edition that you used to be able to buy? It’s $10 and the content in it is mediocre. Including all the pre-order – sorry, early buy incentives – items would make people buy the pack. It’s the same-ish price as a Kit.
I own most of the items from various packs. I would love for everyone to get these items. I would not feel cheated at all. That’s a terrible mindset to gatekeep something from others because you got the pack on release day. It makes no sense. It’s three items that have zero impact on the game at all. It’s allowing everyone to get the same items. These three things should have come in the pack, no matter when you got it. I’m not going to demand they cease their FOMO-baiting practices, but let’s be realistic here, no one loses anything if people could get these items again down the line nor is there a reason to gatekeep them.- jpkarlsen4 months agoRetired Hero
No, pre-order is not the same as early buy. A pre-order ends when the game is released whereas Early Buy ends after it is released. In this case September 5. But you are right that pre-orders often gives access to the game the moment it is released. It also frequently give a few days of early access. The two things have one thing in common giving additional content free.
