Problems Collecting the Sugar Skulls

Hello. Back again with another question regarding my SuperSim. This time, it's about collections.

I plan to complete every collection in the game, including the ones from limited time events. I did quite a lot of research into how to obtain all of those event-specific collections without cheats. I managed to complete the decorative egg collection through Seasons holidays, and the magic bean collection through the gardening skill and rare seed packets. I plan to use a mod to re-enable the positivity challenge event for the posters, since there is no way to get those without cheating afaik.

I had read that to get the sugar skulls, you could purchase the art skull from the secret menu in Selvadorada, then leave a sugar skull offering at a tombstone with a ghost attached to it to spawn a Day of the Dead Celebrator whom you can befriend to get a sugar skull from.

My SuperSim has already done everything in Selvadorada and picked up a bunch of the art skull there. She happens to have the tombstone of her late husband that she may have ah... disposed of for her Public Enemy aspiration (don't feel bad for him; he deserved what he got). I thought great! I have this collection in the bag now! But nothing happens when she leaves a sugar skull. She just acts upset like it was rejected or something and I get no notification and no celebrator like I should.

I thought it might be because she's enemies with her late husband so he wouldn't accept any of her offerings. So I had her current boyfriend become good friends with his ghost and leave an offering, but I still get the same result.

Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to do something else? Cheating is really out of the question. I'm determined to do this the right way.

I have no clue if it still works, but the offering has to be made at night if I recall. Then you have to look around to see if any “event” Sims have spawned. You don’t get skulls from the tombstone itself, but rather have to chat with and ask special event Sims for one. While the event was going on, the event Sims had sugar skull face paint on I think. I was able to make this work a while back (after the event was over), but I don’t know if it was due to a mod or cheat to be honest.
  • Those sims do spawn but it's like looking for a needle in the haystack. Even when the event was on they didn't just appear everywhere. In my game quite a lot of them spawned near the park in Oasis Springs. You need to travel to a few community venues to look for them.

Thanks. A couple people have told me this, but I swear I've done it during the day in another save with no issues. I could be misremembering, though. I'll give it another go at night when I play today.

It’s only an event I believe. You have to ask a certain sim that only shows up when the event is live.

No, you can definitely still get the sugar skulls even though the event is over. I tested the sugar skull thing in a different save recently before I tried it in my SuperSim save and it worked.

I've heard this from a few people as well. Funnily enough, I tried it in StrangerVille recently when I was testing to see if the sugar skull thing still worked and I had no issues getting a Day of the Dead celebrator to spawn. It was the neighbourhood with the trailer park. My Sims were living in that starter trailer. She didn't have the face paint but she was wearing the dress and had the role listed above her head. I was able to get a sugar skull from her after befriending her.

If doing it at night doesn't work, I guess I can try going to the park or something. Can't hurt.
