I have noticed that when Sims propose when the "New Partner" moodlet is still there, they might rejected these proposals. They're probably like "woah, hold your horses." :lol: You mentioned that you had them go on a date after going steady, so did they still have the moodlet? When I really needed to marry two of my background Sims for storyline purposes I also had the guy's proposal rejected three times. Even after I filled both of their needs, still rejected. So I removed all buffs - really the only moodlets she had were about feeling great and a new partner, so nothing negative - and after this she did accept his proposal. :)
