Question about new update "Gender Preference"???

In the new patch, in the patch notes there's a note that says "Gender Preference now affects flirt options". Was there a new gender preference feature added? Was there one the whole time? I'm so confu...

Let us players choose this and whether we want to play with it or not. That is also a thing.

This. Honestly, it seems that people are making excuses to prevent this feature from appearing in the game.
