Question about the rodent disease?

I just downloaded My first pet stuff pack but don't know much about it. I didn't watch the Livestream on this one. I just want to know if the sims can catch this disease on their own...like do they play with the rodent autonomously where it can bite them? Or is the only way they can get bit is if I give them a command to take them out of their cage?
  • Try this page for all you need to know on the pack and scroll down till you see Rabid Rodent Fever & Death. https://simsvip.com/sims-4-first-pet-guide/
  • I'm still waiting for the habitat to get dirty lol... I'm ready for death and mayhem today.
Oh I'll throw that in as a question here though if you don't mind. Will sims autonomously clean the cage?
    ... I'm hoping not.

Thanks. This article does not answer my question. Just want to know if the Sims will play with the rodents autonomously and if biting can happen that way or will I always have to command it to play with the rodent.

Yes - yes they do autonomously clean the cage. Having a dirty cage creates a messy environment and makes sims Uncomfortable.

So if you want mayhem in your game, make sure you turn autonomy off, or keep a close eye on them and cancel the cage-cleaning before it happens. However, once they get bitten and get sick, you can let them clean the cage.

    Okay, sorry about that.

Hey thanks. I got lucky with that in the household I wanted it to progress in ;). I had another family where I think someone autonomously cleaned it... I just wasn't paying attention, didn't want the disease there anyway.

Wow, that took forever. I had 8 sims. Waited for cage to get dirty. Had all 8 sims play with the rodent, 7 got bit, and only 3 got the disease. Then the rest of the house got the disease from it being contagious.

Yeah it takes awhile.. actually I'm surprised but can't say disappointed by how long. Especially if you play mostly on slow like me. I have a club at my sims home and they are pretty sick now... I locked them in. They are finally contagious so it's getting closer.. the butler caught it and my sim re-caught it... going to let him carry it then give him another cure when it runs it's course a little longer.
  • Okay just an update for any that are interested club members will die at your house during a club gathering of rabid rodent fever I had 5 go rabid at once and down they went lol. So a "club" hospital/plague center is a good possibility for a story line. I play with aging off if that matters.

it should take 3 days for habitat to get dirty.
If it does, don't clean it. When sim gets bitten, there's a chance that sim may get sick after Bitten moodlet. If it doesn't happen, try again.
I had same problem in The Sims 1, but then I realized that the cage must be dirty for sim to get sick.
