Question on Gallery Download

I am not a builder in any way, shape, or form. That means I rely on all the great builders out there to create the homes and business I use in my game. I have a family in the market for an affordable 3-bedroom home, and I found a nice one on the Gallery. I've downloaded it for my library, but I haven't placed it in the game yet.

The creator has a note saying to be sure "bb.moveobjects on" is entered before placing the lot. What's the reason for this? I've used the "move objects on" cheat in the past, but not "bb.moveobjects on" -- is there a difference? Weren't there problems now with using MOO?

Can someone please explain why this cheat needs to be entered first? The last thing I want is to download a lot that I can't use or that will cause me problems in my game.

Thanks!

  • When it comes to using the MOO cheat, the reason they say to turn it on before placing the lot will make sure it keeps all things in place. Now if the moveobjects were used because of the decoration items you shouldn't have any issues. I have a few lots that are like that, but I always do a playthrough to make sure there are not any routing issues. Where you run into a routing issue is because there is something in the way that should not be there, and I have seen several homes like this as well.

If you do run into a problem, just place down a new lot of your choosing,

Thanks! Back in Sims 2 I downloaded a beautiful home -- and ran into some serious routing issues which resulted in one gentleman dying in the dining room. It worked in well with the storyline, though. He and his new wife weren't all that happy. It's suspected that she had something to do with his sudden demise.

I'll go ahead and place the lot then give it a quick play-through to make sure all is well.

  • "moveobjects on" no longer works. You have to enter "bb.moveobjects on" for the cheat to work.
  • If you don't use the cheat some things may not appear in your game if it was used to put certain things in places they normally would not go, for instance a window in a roof, maybe a pond from the show hidden objects cheat and then I guess the clutter.

I always personally put this on my description of my builds just in case I adjusted something with bb.moveobjects on, I also playtest my homes thoroughly and I play the Sims so I want homes to be Simmer friendly.

Thanks! I haven't used the cheat since the days of Sims 2, so I wasn't sure if there was a difference or not. I appreciate the info!

Good to know! This was the first time I'd seen it as part of the download instructions from a builder. Next time, I'll know and understand what it's all about. Thanks!

I just noticed... it was your "Country Living" home I downloaded. :) I feel quite confident now about putting it in my game. Thanks again for the explanation on the "move objects" cheat code.
