Question: Tray Folder And What It Contains

What is the difference between a BFI file, a TRAYITEN file, a BLUEPRINT and an HHI file? I ask, because I just pulled my Sims4 folder out of my documents file so it would regenerate. I want to keep a copy of the Chez Llama restaurant and the Spa in my library, because for a time those disappeared. But, I don't want the 'household' I had to set up just to get into a neighborhood. I intend to replace the new Tray, save and screenshots folders from my original pulled file to resume my games, hopefully, this time without the crashing upon exiting problem. Is it safe to assume that the Blueprint files are what I want? Should I also keep the Trayitem files too? Or should I just shrug and replace it straight out?

Please, and thank you, in advance. :)
  • I know nothing of whatever's in the Tray folder, I just know it's bad to delete it lol. Maybe someone more technical reads this and helps you.
  • I know that buildings and sims are stored in the tray. If you were to down laod a building from, say, Mod The Sims, you'd drop it into your tray folder and it should appear in your Library.
I also saw a thread where someone figured out to find individual sims in tray using Tray Importer. If I can find the thread I'll link it here.

It's probably best to take the whole folder when you're replacing. I think blueprint files are buildings.

I decided to just shrug and replaced the new Tray with my old one to keep my ongoing games intact. Thanks to all of you for your responses. :)

Scroll down to Rose's answer about what all those file extentions mean. It's very enlightening. (blueprint, HHI files, etc. etc.)
