Randomness of Sims 4

I think that consequences and randomness are fine in moderation.

I just played The Sims 3 again for the first time in years, and in one week:
My Sim gets his car stolen by a Burglar (who RUNS away with it) and I can't interrupt him and calling the cops does nothing.
He dates a 1 Star Celebrity, and Paparazzi crowd his house. It was a hot day, so they burnt to death. Then their Ghosts kept haunting my Sim's house, disrupting his actions.
Deer, Raccoons, Horses and a Unicorn show up outta nowhere.
The Zombie Apocalypse begins.
He gets abducted by Aliens.
A portal to the future just appears on his lot.
And a guy in a Llama fursuit shows up to his house.

A bit too random for my tastes ?

Also found it weird how the consequence of asking your significant other to hang out is a failed date notification, and negative moodlet.

This post just made my entire day. I would love it if a unicorn randomly showed up to my house in rl :joy:

Some more randomness would be cool, sure - but we do have mods to take care of MOST of what everyone wants. That's what the modding community is for, to make the Sims your own game.

Not random enough? Let me tell you about the day my sim family had yesterday.
Our teen boy went to cook something for dinner and set the kitchen on fire and caught himself on fire too! Thank goodness his mom and older brother were there to put him out or he'd have been a pile of ashes in no time. Then, later that evening, mom sim was abducted by aliens! I was really hoping the dad would be abducted because I just found out guy sims can return preggers from alien abduction and I think that would be hilarious. Not for him, poor guy, unless it was from encountering one of those green alien dancing girls from Star Trek TOS, guys really like her, don't they?

Joking aside, I understand what you're saying, 4 does play differently from 3.
