Read to child not showing?

Do you have children books in the teen-adult sim's inventory and did you click the book so they can read to the child? You can also do that with children books in the bookcase too. I think it has to be a children book.

As stated, it must be a children's book. If there are none in the bookcase, you can buy some by clicking on the bookcase or the computer (under "order"). If you know you had some but can't find them, click on the bookcase and have a Sim put away books. They will find wherever your Sims have hidden them, unless they are in someone's personal inventory.

I'm so very glad that they shortened the time an adult must read to a child to fulfill the Lineage and Whiz Kid aspirations. I am having a terrible time getting an adult to actually read to the child. I've even used the "call child over to listen to story" option, to little avail. So far, I've managed one hour's worth, with a second one to go. Before the latest patch I'd have two more grueling hours to complete. LOL The only regret I have in how EA handled the "it's too hard" complaints, is I think instead of cutting back the 'need to level up 2 skills to level 4" down to 1 skill to level 2, it still should have been 2 skills to level 2. That way, when this is achieved, the next step could be 2 skills to level 4, or make a jump to 3 skills to level 4. There is a variety of ways it could have been handled, so that most wouldn't feel it was dumbed down, while easing the load.

It must be a child book, which is a little stùpid because my kid is used to read adult books on his own :/

Have you tried buying another children's book? Maybe it can work with another book.

My sims only read to the kid for like 20 minutes before they both get bored and get up to do something else haha

I actually find the reading tasks a challenge overall, if you don't maintain control while they are reading a book, they will just wander off. That really miffs me when a bookworm does it to go and play BlicBloc.

Yes, child book works, and yes, all the kids in the game happily read adult books when left to their own devices :/

Read to child goals annoy me. I've noticed I need to literally delete any interactions either the parent are the child are doing. Then get the parent to read to them (which they usually will only do for about 20 minutes but sometimes it is longer). I sometimes also find they can get stuck when reading to child for a while, especially if the kid goes off whilst the adult is reading to them. The adult continues to read. Bella Goth got stuck doing this, I move the chair she was on and fixed it that way. Sorry I'm going off the subject and ranting a bit! :)
