It wasn't the smartest of moves, but I bet it goes on quietly behind the scenes more than we know. Creators message other creators and build each other up. We will never know if they take money for it or not. All he's done is highlighted that "people have asked me for this" and proven that it actually does happen and now I wonder about some of the other people I've seen and if they've taken money for their review videos. He probably should have kept his price list quiet and just responded to those when asked.
I don't think he deserved all of the hate comments he got though. There were more constructive ways for people to word things or to show their displeasure. (Un-sub) Twitter can be a nasty place when it comes to comments, so I'm not surprised he was ripped apart.
