I don‘t see anything wrong with it. YouTube is his full-time job. Why shouldn’t he be paid for his work? Paying for advertisement is not a new concept. Game Changers like James Turner, Deligracy, Lilsimsie, etc. get a free trip to San Francisco, a free copy of the game and other goodies and in exchange they promote and review the new pack on YouTube. How is this any different from what Pixelade is doing?
Because the creator isn’t getting paid. In the circumstance you mention EA will get paid, amd the creator gets paid via Adsense or tips etc- everyone wins.
The situation Pixelade is trying to create is he does a video on someone else’s hard work - he gets paid via Adsense but the content creator particularly if they are a small content creator has to pay Pixelade, but as the cc or mod is free Pixelade will be paid twice and the content creator won’t get paid at all. Sponsorship or partnership should benefit both parties. Under Pixelade’s proposal it only benefits him. He would have to disclose its a sponsorship every time and people would rightfully be very dubious about the fact he he charged money for his opinions. What makes his opinion so special? He’s not that big a YouTuber in the Simming community. There are many bigger Youtubers who do not do this and there’s a good reason for that, it’s shady, it’s morally wrong to charge people to review their work when their content is free to use and the creator in question benefits from his reviews by doing a “free” review anyhow.
