Okay here's my take on this: personally I quite enjoyed doing the 1st week of the Reaper's Reward Quest, but ONLY because it's Reaper / Occult themed. On the rare occasion I'd happily contradict myself just to get all the deliciously weird stuff in my game. 🤺
However, I have questions about details regarding this event that do bother me, especially after reading concerns coming from people who did not want to participate in the first place. To be able to understand it all a bit better and to feel the agony others can feel within -even if it's only a fraction of that agony- I imagined that instead of the "Reapers Rewards Event", this was the "Modern Menswear Rewards Event". Modern Menswear as in whatever EA/Maxis bizarrely believes this represents... *
- Forced? Is this event truly being forced upon folks that don't want anything to do with it, and if so, WHY?! I shudder at the thought of a Modern Menswear Event forcing itself into my game without my consent. Fair enough, some people would rather not think about death, others would rather not think about men in pleated mini skirts typically worn by (most likely misbehaved) little schoolgirls. I can understand the trauma now. Any event should be optional. If the inability to opt-out is true, I hope this is just a terrible oversight or a bug. Either way, it needs fixin' A- ESS -A- Pee.
- Grim Tag. [reaper icon upper left of screen] This little piece of UI does actually bother me, because it's constant and it interferes with the visuals in live mode. I have no problem with it DURING a quest, provided that I chose to participate, but once a week's quest has been succesfully completed, that grim tag - no matter how adorable- should be gone gone. It would be a reward in itself to have it gone until one decides to start the next available quest. I've got a bit of the auld OCD ye see, so I keep frantically checking wether or not I forgot to do something. It also reminds me of a tag sticking out of someone's shirt. Argh, where's me scissors?! These things drive me bonkers. If this were a Modern Menswear Label I'd be screaming murder all over the forums. Murder.
- Six Weeks. I'm sure I can live with a six week death related event. Grimmy has been an important character in my game for as long as I've played the Sims 4, which has been a lot longer than six weeks. But let's just say this Sims event wasn't death or occult themed, let's just say it was "The Event That Shall Not be Named Anymore"? Forced onto me. Yes, I'd be extremely grumpy and I'd have to howl into my pillow as not to frighten the neighbours. Yes, I'd probably have to play another game for Six weeks, or go on an extra long hike, not a problem, but I'd still be a bit cross and narky 'n' all that. Six weeks is long time and for that reason alone all events should be entirely optional. **
Edited for clarification.
* Ofcourse I want more menswear in game, just not the haute couture kind that only 2% of modern men (and my sims) will actually wear. Give me basic and masculine, I'm one of those utterly boring basic lads.
** Let me reiterate that I'm already no fan of these stressfull, limited time events, but six week is extremely long when it's impossible to opt out of the event itself and / or event related UI.
*** Can't wait to collect the next batch of items later this week. 🖤😆
I agree 💯 %
I do love men's fashion and wouldn't mind an event that was optional if it ever comes around.
Men could always use more options in this game fashion, or gameplay. I personally would like a billiards event or boxing event! 😂
