The lack of long-term gameplay have been an issue for a while for the sims4. I felt that Jungle Adventure did a pretty god job with that, with the ruins requiring skill from your sim to progress. And I also liked that some areas are closed off so you can't explore everything at once and there are also different ruins everytime you visit.
With Strangerville I am probably one of the few who actually liked that the aspirations was trying to follow a narrative, but the fetch quests was not fun. I also did not like that the sims reacted so little to people getting infected. Introducing a fear emotion would have been really good here.
Realm of Magic has a lot of spells and potions for you to learn, there is not much depth in discovering those spells though but the potions does require a bit of work to make them.
I thought Discover University had some long term gameplay, and I liked that it was challenging, however I discovered that the best way to play discover university is unfortunately to ignore everything and just focus on studying, which makes it very boring and also makes everything around you very annoying with everyone just trying to waste your time.
Eco Lifestyle... I am trying to stay motivated to make Evergreen Harbor completely green, but everything is so buggy and repetitive that I am quickly losing my interest to play it.
Yeah it was nice that you couldn't finish everything in JA in one vacation, but it was still something I probably won't do again, cause the tomb part wasn't too exciting and the rest is just scenery and nothing else (though again, it's a Sims 4 thing).
The Strangerville aspiration did make it easy to know what you actually need to do so I agree on that.
It was actually challenging to get ingredients for potions, especially the one that clears curses. My Sim didn't sleep for a week (she couldn't) trying to find a citrine. So that's something I liked.
I did only focus on studying in university (my Sim took 4 classes), but finding out I have to do it twice more was really offputting (especially with sharing is caring still in action).
I still haven't tried the going green part, but with the annoying N.A.P.s I'm not looking forward to it.
