I started doing this procedure some years ago and have occasionally re-done it from scratch, which takes me some months but is definitely worth it.
I start by bulldozing and evicting Willow Creek and then when that has been re-done to my satisfaction I move on to the next world in line and just complete each world in order as they show up on the screen, left to right, top to bottom. When we get a new world I go back to my original save and do the same for that one, copying the Lots into my library to transfer to my current save if I have one on-the-go.
From time-to-time I decide I am fed up of certain lots and need a change, so I edit my master save again.
Music is definitely my friend during the process! I turn off the game sound and put on some of my fave tracks and I can happily build for hours.
