I don't really understand the jump from "I don't mind some Sim animations recycled if they're for new interactions/objects" to "you wouldn't mind everything just reskinned and reused". That's quite a leap.
Example: the trash compactor machine: the Sim using it has the same animation as the cupcake machine. But the trash compactor itself is new and the animation for it has been modified to show the compacted cubes. Plus, the animations for dealing with those cubes aren't likely to be the same as picking up a tray of cupcakes.
Same with the candle making: I'm willing to bet that the animation for that is similar to some other one already in the game, modified to accommodate candles. Which are then animated to burn down as time passes (hey, new thing).
As for recolors of existing objects:
a bike is a bike is a bike. The one we'll get with EL is clearly one made from recycled materials (the pack's theme).
The selling table: obviously a flea market thing is a part of the pack, which I find great as it comes with at least two new types of craftables. The other two tables are both in DLCs, not in base game. So it's not like they could have said "well, you already have a selling table". Could they have made a different object? Sure, but what? if it was market stalls, there'd be complaints that we already have food and souvenir stands.
Do I wish they'd showcased more of the newer things in the trailer rather than the recognizable ones? Sure. But the trailers aren't done by Maxis and the marketing company made those choices. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For me it's all about balance. And I'm willing to wait and see what else is in the pack.
