The thing that is crazy to me is that people (including myself) are getting upset that The Sims 4 is recycling content, when in fact TS4 is a recycled idea of itself to begin with!
This is the 4th edition of the series, so of course, some things will be redone and ideas recycled. We are complaining about not having things from past games i.e. cars, cuddling, weather, slow dancing, spiral stairs.. when these have all been done before. The difference now is that EA is doing it wrong by making it so obvious in TS4. We have come accustom having certain things in packs, & it angers past fans that they are not included in the EP that is was in before. This game still 4 years in, lacks the content &charm past games have had so we jump at the chance to liven things up when a new shiny pack is released, no matter how lack luster it may actually be.
Finally - someone else who sees the way it is -who sees complaints about recycling content at the same time complaining this game is missing content the other games in the series had - is sort of - what - contradictory. As Sarah says the sims itself is a recycled idea all from Sims 1 to start with.
I beg to differ. It's not contradictory to request the things that are staples and, at the same time, also request things that are new.
By now, certain things are so inherent to the series that, when they are missing, their absence is sorely felt. However, that doesn't mean that the same people who are missing the staples will be happy with watching TS4 resell and retread pretty much the same mechanics over and over again from one pack to another. It's too much.
I don't remember any other game in the series that has recycled mechanics as much as TS4 is doing with each subsequent pack. At this point, it's quite evident that features are voted on and implemented according to how much can be reused from the packs that came before. If it's the difference between a mechanic that requires all new animations and one that doesn't, guess which one wins?
I'd much rather see a staple return such as cuddling and making out in bed, rather than the 100th food stall or active career that all pretty much feel similar at this point.
